Resisting Sleep Because It's Saturday Night
11:20 p.m. / 23:20
I haven't had a chance to wear these awesome shoes that Teacher Incognito gave me for my birthday, so I had to find another way to show them off!

Chain Mail In The Workplace?
4:25 p.m. / 16:25
The boys here at la biblioteca are petitioning to be allowed to wear chain mail t-shirts to work. Okay, it's actually only two of them, and it isn't really a formal petition, but we were all having a lot of fun talking about it earlier. I don't think I'd want to wear one myself, but I'd be more than happy to laugh my ass off should someone else give it a try. Have a look at this thing yourself: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/generic/9080/?cpg=wnrss

Poster Shopping
10:20 p.m. / 22:20
So, I found this website, www.allposters.com, which I was hoping would have a Georgia O'Keefe poster I'd like to have. They did not have it, and actually I'm starting to think maybe that's a painting of hers that has never been poster-ized. I guess flowers sell better than bones. Anyway, I decided to look around at some other stuff before navigating away from the site entirely and clicked on Best Sellers. They have a Breakfast Club poster on sale for about $5! I love The Breakfast Club, but I'm not sure I'll ever have someplace I really want to hang the poster. Maybe if I had a TV room, specifically, but I definitely do not have such a room at this time, and I probably won't until I own a house in the extremely distant future. I think if it was right in front of me physically, like in a store, I'd totally pay $5.00 and hope I found a use for it later. As it is, though, I'm not sure I want to go through the whole internet check-out process, pay shipping, etc. for this poster.
In other random 80's movie news, I purchaced the 2-disc Ultimate Edition of Dirty Dancing for $7.50 at Target the other day.

Yawn
7:10 a.m. / 07:10
I'm going back to work today, after several days off. I'm actually looking forward to going back, but what usually happens on these occasions is that I find I'm glad to be back in the building and talking with my co-workers, but much less glad to be doing my actual job. Actually, if it's a slow day and I can focus on missing pieces, it might not be so bad. When something gets returned to my branch missing a part (example: the case to Hot Fuzz with no DVD inside), it's usually my job to call the person who had it or whatever else it takes to get the missing part back. This is an aspect of my job I originally dreaded and avoided, but everyone else seemed to be avoiding it too, and so I started doing it from time to time when items started to stack up. First I got used to it, then I started liking it, then my boss decided it would always be my responsibility. Lordy, I'm rambling. I really shouldn't blog in the morning. Anyway, my trip to Chicago was excellent as always and if you're lucky I'll post a few pictures from the Chicago Botanic Gardens.

I Hate Packing
10:15 p.m. / 22:15
I hate packing, but I very much love Chicago and j-dog, so it's going to be worth it. First thing in the morning I'm going away for four days with evilducky, velocibadgergirl, rabid monkey and norahs1213 to visit j-dog and her husband. I had this whole elaborate pre-trip post planned out, but now it's after 10:00 p.m. and I still have some packing to do, so that's not going to happen. Anyway, I'm excited!

(Not) Chinese Food
7:25 a.m. / 07:25
How do the Chinese buffet restaurants all know to serve the same things that are clearly not actually Chinese? I always eat these little corn nuggets that are like tater tots, only corn, and of course the sugar-coated things I call Chinese donuts. They have them at nearly every Chinese buffet I've been to in my city, but they're some of the least Chinese-like things there. I've never seen them anywere else, though, so how do they all know to find these things and serve them?

26
1:00 a.m. / 01:00
This is the post that just wouldn't happen! Even now it's going to be much shorter than originally intended.
Anyway, I had a great 26th birthday and even a relatively okay time at the BMV renewing my driver's license.
Thank you to everyone who was at dinner Wednesday evening. Also, thank you to everyone who left a happy birthday message in the comments on my last lame post.
Nearly all of my birthday presents were one of three things: Barnes & Noble gift cards, earrings or shoes. People know me too well. I suppose that's a good thing when it comes to birthday presents.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm having some issues with blogger, so if this post looks weird, that's why. If it looks just like all the others, I've been able to fix it and all is well.
