This week has been all about Mabel. Perhaps some people are tired of hearing about my cat, but other than going to work and other day-to-day routine, my week has really revolved around Mabel because of her surgeries. Last night she had me worried because it looked like she had spent the whole day while I was at work washing the area on her tummy that's stitched up because I wasn't here to tell her not to. I thought I might have to take her back in today, but it looks a little better this morning and she's certainly acting fine. She's sitting complacently in the papazon chair right now, which is a little odd, but she seemed more like her self when we first got up this morning. I kind of like that I get to hold her pretty much anytime I'm not doing something like dishes, laundry or eating, but it will be nice to see her running around all crazy again. That's when I'll know she's really feeling better.

Mabel Is Home
Mabel is home now. I'm pretty sure the wrong doctor took out her front claws (and spayed her), but she seems to be doing well. She's calmer and sleepier than normal, but that's expected. She's asleep here on my lap. She was purring, but I think she's really asleep now. I've held her almost since we got home, around 10:45, but soon I'll have to go to work. I think Mabel and I are in total agreement for maybe the first time-- that was rough, we're glad it only has to be done once, and isn't it great that Mabel's home now!

Absense Makes The Heart Grow Fonder
Note On Biblionetworking
This reminded me that I have received invitations from several people at different times to join GoodReads. I've always ignored them. I just wanted to say it isn't personal, it's just that I'm already using LibraryThing, and I figure that's enough. There's a link to my LibraryThing library on the sidebar with images of three random books I own.

I'm not really sure where this originated, but it's one of my favorites from a set of Easter funnies I got in an e-mail a few days ago.

Adventures All Over The Place
Because I hadn't had enough excitement, I had to screw up making hard boiled eggs. I won't go into why I thought they were done, but I did. I decided to dissect one just to be sure, though. I placed a paper towel on the kitchen counter and proceeded to roll the egg on it while applying pressure. The egg was not done; not at all. This resulted in my smashing a raw egg with my bare hand on a paper towel. Say it with me now, DISGUSTING!
On Friday, I took the eggs to work and dyed them on my lunch hour in the room that's normally used for story hour. It's a pretty safe place to make a mess. One of the bookshelvers had never dyed eggs before, so I wanted to do the dying at work so she could see and participate a little bit. It all went pretty well except another shelver tried to hide the eggs and I might have offended the vegan shelver.
I was curled up in bed this morning around 1:00 a.m. just dozing off when I heard sirens. Then there was a rushing sound, which might have just been a plane flying over, but I also heard a loud crash. In my half-asleep state, I though maybe a plane had crashed. But, no there really weren't enough sirens for that. Something was going on, though. The sirens seemed to have moved on, but there was a faint flash of lights on my garage. I decided to get up and look out the front window for more information. There was a total circus going on out there on the cross street just down from my house. I called evilducky, who lives near by because I though the sirens might have woken her up anyway. Alas, I woke her up. I haven't seen anything in the news saying what went on, but it must have been a chase gone bad, because I could see a wrecked police car.
So, those are my adventures.

Signs Of Spring
Driving to work this morning, I noticed that two of the 12 - 15 potholes I drive over / around on my way to work have been filled. I just thought, "Glory be! It really is spring!".

Cat Owners Aren't Supposed To Have This Problem
While I slept last night, adorable little Mabel got into the paperwork left on my desk and chewed the corner off of my mortgage statement; the part of it I have to send in with my payment.

Mabel is hard to photograph. She is in almost constant motion, and when she does decide to slow down and take it easy for a little bit, she's usually on my lap. She's lived with me for very nearly a month now, and I have finally managed to get a few pictures of her.

When I'm Not Blogging
Things I've been doing while continuing to neglect my duties here, even after I said that was over:
- cooking (in a half-assed sort of way)
- even more unpacking
- washing dishes
- organizing my books
- moving empty boxes around
- hanging out with cool people
- listening to live Irish music
- learning about Mabel (so sweet, so ouchy, so soft, so smelly, so small, so demanding)
- watching my friends put together my new bookshelf (they ate all my Hawaiian rolls too)
- laundry in my stupid Frigidaire washer & dryer
- listening to Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Weird Al and Duran Duran
- looking for my furnace filter
- watching Sex & the City
- washing dishes again
- trying to get ready for the very, very late 9th Annual Groundhog Day Party
- puttering around the internet

I have internet service at my house now! I can get back to posting regularly... or my own special version of regularly, which isn't actually all that regular, but still more frequent than I have been posting for about the past month.
My little cat Mabel is purring on my lap as I type. I'll have to post pictures of her very soon. Hopefully I'll aslo be posting a few pictures of my little house. You must see the cow wallpaper in the kitchen before I take it down. Actually, I'm kind of getting used to it. It's amazing what you can learn to ignore. I still plan to take it down, though. I already have the cream paint for after it's down and everything.
So... I guess that's it for tonight.
